Coalizione Italiana per le Libertà e Diritti Civili
Presentation:
Founded in 2014, the Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties and Rights (CILD) includes more than 40 national civil society organizations (CSOs). CILD supports and empowers civil society groups working to address some of the most pressing human rights issues faced by the country today. To do it, CILD combines collaborative legal projects with impact throughout Europe (engaging strategic litigation and organising for pro bono legal advice), applied research, campaigns for policy change, strategic communication, and capacity building on policy analysis, advocacy, media strategy, and public education. CILD is working mainly on migration and international protection of migrants, LGBTI, prisoners’ rights, drug policy reform, freedom of expression, access to information, transparency and accountability at local and national levels. CILD realises several national and European projects, and in November 2020, launched the Narrative Lab, a capacity-building gateway empowering progressive CSOs and leaders to activate narrative change towards structural change. The Narrative Lab assists civil society actors and universities in developing new shared language, deploying new effective narratives, and planning tactical interventions to co-develop and deploy positive narratives built around workable solutions, core national and constitutional values, and a sense of civic engagement, belonging and togetherness. Since 2021, CILD organised an annual Media Academy for emerging leaders and activists.
